Nirvana
Nirvana is the name of a band from the City of Aberdeen, Washington, United
States, then finally they get success in Seattle City, United States, which is
famous for the flow of grunge music, or also known as Seattle Sound. This band
has a lot of loyal followers or fans in Indonesia, especially in the
underground music community.
Nirvana began to be popular, and known to the world since the release of
their album, Nevermind, with the singles of Smells Like Teen Spirit, the single
made them the Best Alternative / Rock Band trophy and occupied the first chart
on Billboard America. Consisting of Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain and
Dave Grohl. The band broke up after Kurt Cobain committed suicide from an
overdose after sucking cocaine in his residence in 1994.
The group was formed in Washington, USA, in 1987. All Nirvana songs were
released by vocalists Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic who filled bass Dave
Grohl, the group released their first album in 1989 under an indie label.
In 1991, Nirvana signed a contract with a major label DGC and released
their second album NEVERMIND. DGC estimates it can sell the album at least 250
thousand copies only. What happen is the contrary. Success Smells Like Teen
Spirit boost sales to 400 thousand copies in just 1 week.
Trying to repeat the success of the first album, the second album titled In
Utero was released two years later. Unfortunately the prestige of this 2nd
album is not as brilliant as the first.
8 April 1994 is the end of history when the motorcycle Nirvana Kurt Cobain
found dead at his home in Seattle Washington. Some of their compilation albums
are still released some years later. Nirvana is estimated to have sold at least
50 million copies of their albums worldwide.

The first appearance of
Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic took place in March 1987, which also resulted
in Nirvana's early formation consisting of Kurt Cobain (vocals and guitar),
Krist
Novoselic (bass) and drummer Aaron Burckhard. At
the end of 1987, Aaron Burckhard came out of Nirvana. Beginning in 1988, the
position of drummer filled by Chad Channing and Jason Everman joined as the
second guitarist. Jason Everman came out in mid-1989 followed by Chad
Channing's departure in 1990.

The name Nirvana only appeared in 1988 when Kurt discovered the name from a midnight television show broadcasting about a Buddhist program which meant achieving perfection.
They made their first single, "Love
Buzz", released by a small independent label Sub Pop Records. Nirvana's
popularity in Seattle evolved, and they released their debut album, Bleach.
In November 1988 the first single Nirvana Love Buzz was circulated to a limited circle of Kurt himself who then handed one of his coffee to the KCMU radio for playback. After that Kurt immediately listened to the radio and after hours of nervous because the song was not immediately played until Kurt had to call
from a pay phone and request his own song then then the song airs one of the greatest irony of a great
rock star at the beginning of his career had time to request his own song on a radio
In early 1991 Nirvana moved the label from Sub Pop to DGC (David Geffen Company) a major label
with a wider distribution and a larger fund of one of DGC's most successful orbits was Guns N Roses.
Nirvana also joined Gold Mountain, an artist management company in which Sonic Youth,a contemporary punk band Kurt admired. Nirvana continued his journey by releasing a second album titled Nevermind recorded in May 1991 and completed a month later.
Initially, DGC Records hoped to sell 250,000 copies of Nevermind. However, his first single album "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is rapidly gaining momentum, thanks in part to the often-played songs of MTV's music video. When they toured Europe at the end of 1991, the band discovered that the oversold very threatening
shows,that television crew became a constant presence on stage, and that "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
was almost everywhere on radio and music television. On Christmas 1991,
Nevermind sold 400,000 copies per week in the United States. On January 11, 1992, the album reached number one on the Billboard album charts, displacing Michael Jackson's Dangerous album. The album also topped the charts in various countries around the world.Cobain entered as one of the best songwriters in his generation at the age of 24 years.
This is a legendary and phenomenal album thatthen catapulted the name of Nirvana to the international music universe. The songs contained in this album tells the story of Tobi Vail vocalist of punk band Bikini Kill girl, the woman whom Kurt loved so much during the 1990-1991 years. Almost all the songs he made always
tells about Tobi, though Tobi was not able to fully accept Kurt.
Kurt isfinally close to a woman named Courtney Love, vocalist of the punk band Hole,
and in this year's span also heroin continues to accompany Kurt's life.
Nevermind was released on September 24, 1991 unexpectedly the album covering the image of a baby who was diving has sold up to 500,000 pieces. On the day of Helloween, October 31, 1991, Nirvana was awarded a gold plate at this time all American, European, Australian, Japanese, Brazilian,

Nirvana began atour of Europe and started MTV Unplugged concerts in New York and Europe in thewinter of 1993.
On March 3 in Rome, Italy at the five-star Exelcior Hotel, Kurt again suffered a severe overdose. This was Kurt's first suicide attempt visible from a piece of paper in Kurt's hand in the letter. Kurt wrote likeHamlet, I had to choose between life and death and I chose death. This event is also spreading in the media and music fans around the world. CNN even had time to report that Kurt Cobain was dead.
Nevertheless Kurt still obeyed the advice of his closest people to take the rehabilitation program. On March 30, 1994, Kurt flew to Los Angeles to attend a recovery program at the Exodus Recovery Centera rehabilitation center for drug addicts. But this only lasted two days. Kurt escaped and went to buy a plane
ticket to return home to Seattle.
Finally, April 5, 1994, at the guest house behind his Seattle home, Cobain committed suicide. He placed the shotgun into his mouth and fired it, killing himself quickly. He left a suicide note addressed to fans, as well as his wife and daughters. Although officially the police claimed he died by suicide, there were some irregularitiesand the possibility of Love being involved in Cobain's death, because it found evidence that his credit card was used for shopping.while Cobain was declared dead when the transaction was made.
Courtney was panicking at the news of Kurt'sescape. He feared something bad would happen to Kurt
because a few days beforeflying to Los Angeles to enter rehab Kurt reportedly had bought a rifle at a gun shop
in Seattle. Kurt arrived at his home early Saturday morning April 2,
1994. He had met Michael Cali and Jessica Hopper two guys who guarded his house
while Frances with Courtney was in Los Angeles who was doing a promo for the
band's latest album and track Kurt's whereabouts
Upon his return to the United States, Cobain became a recluse, spent much of his time alone with his drug
addiction, got worse and worse, went in and out of the clinic for healing, and often he escaped from the clinic
because he was not strong and felt increasingly crazy with his addiction.
